Why we started

TATY Workplace Learning began in 2018 after seeing a familiar pattern across Canadian workplaces: teams were asked to collaborate better, communicate more clearly, and protect wellbeing—yet training often stopped at high-level advice. People left sessions motivated, then returned to messy calendars, unclear handoffs, and meetings that drifted.

The starting point was straightforward: build education that matches the unglamorous reality of work. That means participants practise the language they will actually use, with light structure that makes behaviour observable. The approach borrows from adult learning principles like spaced repetition and transfer of learning: short cycles of instruction, rehearsal, feedback, and reflection that fit into real routines.

Today, our materials and facilitated sessions focus on workplace communication, collaboration, engagement habits, sustainable productivity, and professional resilience. The goal is not to “fix” a culture in a day; it is to give teams a shared set of behaviours they can repeat, measure, and coach over time.

Mission statement

Provide workplace wellbeing and employee development education that is clear, practice-led, and usable—so Canadian teams can build shared communication habits and healthier working norms.

What guides our work

  • Behaviour over slogans: learning outcomes should be observable in meetings, messages, and handoffs.
  • Cognitive load matters: tools must be simple enough to apply on a busy day.
  • Summative clarity: when certificates are requested, completion criteria are defined up front.
  • Respect privacy: collect only what is needed and keep group activities non-invasive.

How our education is built

Each program is designed to support transfer of learning: participants should be able to use the skill in a real situation, not only describe it. We use scenario-based learning, rehearsal loops, and simple follow-up prompts that encourage spaced repetition without turning training into a second job.

  1. 01

    Define the workplace scenario

We start with the moment that matters: a feedback conversation, a meeting decision, a cross-team handoff, or a conflict that needs de-escalation. The scenario becomes the “unit of practice,” which keeps content concrete and helps participants recognise when to use the skill.

  2. 02

Teach a small framework and a script

Instruction is brief and structured. Participants receive a framework (what to pay attention to) and language tools (what to say). Scripts are offered as starting points, not fixed lines; the goal is a shared pattern that still sounds human.

  3. 03

    Rehearse, reflect, and adjust

Practice includes observation and feedback. We use short rounds so participants can try again with one deliberate change. Reflection prompts are specific (“What did you do when the other person disagreed?”), which improves recall and reduces vague takeaways.

  4. 04

    Reinforce with lightweight follow-ups

Teams receive micro-practices and reminders that fit common cadences: weekly check-ins, one-on-ones, retrospectives, and planning meetings. These nudges are the backbone of spaced repetition and help new habits become normal.

Team and governance

We keep roles clear so programs stay consistent: learning design is separated from facilitation logistics, and content review focuses on plain language, accessibility, and practical applicability. When invited specialists contribute, the material is curated and edited into a stable lesson format.

Specialist participation

Specialists participate as invited experts. Their contributions are educational and are presented without implying endorsements, guarantees, or platform-based ratings.

Learning Design Lead (M.Ed.)

Builds program structures, rubrics, and reinforcement packs. Known for tightening objectives so each session has a clear skill target and a realistic practice plan. Oversees summative assessment options when completion records are requested.

Facilitation Director (CPD)

Facilitates workshops and coaches co-facilitators on pacing, psychological safety, and practice quality. Helps organizations translate learning into meeting norms, handoff patterns, and feedback loops that remain stable after the cohort ends.

Learning Operations Manager (LMS)

Handles scheduling, participant communications, and resource distribution. Focuses on clean delivery: clear joining instructions, accessible formats, and support for Canada-wide time zones so cohorts run predictably.

Content Quality Reviewer (Plain Language)

Reviews participant-facing materials for clarity, accessibility, and consistent terminology. Tracks revisions so updates remain incremental and methodical, rather than rewriting programs each quarter.
